To the top in a few minutes

Pec pod Snezkou – Eight-seat funicular to Snezka Mountain will go in the same corridor as the contemporary. The lane from Pec to Ruzova Mountain will be longer. "Inhabitants of Pec want to remove the departure station to the object Lesovna, closer to the town centre“, said the director of the Giant Mountains National Park management – Jiri Novak.

Number of conditions
Administrators of the National Park have no objections. They agreed on conditions of the reconstruction with the town. The conditions include several important technical parametres which are necessary for the construction permit. It is for example lower capacity of transportation (from 400 on 250) and using of special supporting panels. "On the second section - trace from Ruzova Mountain - Snezka Mountain, the tower height must be adjusted to the terrain. The foundations of supports will be on the place of current supports foundations," said Novak. All steps should ensure as few intervention to the ecosystem as possible, especially in higher parts of the trace. Stations on Ruzova Mountain and Snezka Mountain will be keep in original groundplans. The reconstruction should start in 2009, The eight-seat cabin will go at the speed of 5 metres per second.
The way to Ruzova Mountain will take 5,2 minutes (now 11 minutes). From Ruzova Mountain goes it only 6,6 minutes to the top of Snezka Mountain (now 13,5 minutes). The first part is and will stay 1560 metres long, the second one 1967 metres.

The present funicular serves out
The new equipment will replace the old two-seat funicular. The old one went first time in 1949. Discussions about its change took several years. And the result is the actual agreement about its reconstruction.
