Cerny Dul is located 684 m above sea level. Cerny Dul - original mining settlement spreads out in the valley of Cista creek, on the foothill of the Giant Mountians. The name of Cerny Dul (Black pit) had its origin from the location in the centre of deep black woods. Parts of Cerny Dul are villages Cista in the Giant Mountains and Fort. Cerny Dul is a good starting poit for trips to Cerna and Lisci mountain and to the town Janske Lazne. This attractive region of the east Giant Mountains offers possibilities for hikers, bikers and winter sports friends as well as lovers of summer relaxation near water. You can find tennis courts, gym, indoor swimming pool, skittles and also try horse riding in Cerny Dul.
The origin of Cerny Dul is related to the beginning of the ore mining in the Giant Mountains, since the year 1383. In 1533 Krystof from Gendorf got the estate and implemented his big plans of gold, silver and ore mining in the Giant Mountains. Cerny Dul got the authority of free mining town in 1564. The decrease in mining was in the 17th century and the mine was definitely closed in 1817. In 18th century started the breaking of the lime stone in the surroundings of Cerny Dul. And the lome stone has been broken up to the present day. The limestone from Cerny Dul was used during the construction of the fort in Josefov. Nowadays, 9 km long cableway transports the limestone from Cerny Dul to Kuncice for processing.
Cerny Dul has developed the tourism very dynamically for past few years. Strong movement to the traditional ski resorts ensures the complex building of the ski area with almost European parameters. Today, skipark Cerny Dul offers skiing conditions for every skier with various downhill terrains, differently long ski lifts and ski slopes. There is a mini-ski-park for beginners with ski lifts Veronika I and II, Hrbitak I and II. Cerny Dul has also ski centre Saxner for advanced skiers. The main part of the ski area SAXNER is a new three-chair lift and ski lifts Veronika III, U lomu, Bohnischovy boudy and ski lift Skalka. Ski lifts Rosnicka and Krtecek are designed especially for children. For enough snow, there was constructed the artificial snow-making system of the whole area. Tourists can visit a skibar and restaurant with terrace. Ski resort - skipark Cerny Dul is characteristic with its romantic and quiet environment with first-class ski terrains for advanced skiers and snowboarders as well as for beginners and children. This interesting part of the east Giant Moutanins with close Cerna mountain (Black mountain) can satisfy all tourists, bikers and cyclists and also water and relaxation lovers.
