The administrative processing of the project itself was very demanding. The unsatisfactory situation in the construction industry had an impact on the construction part of the implementation, when the lack of work capacities and the growth of construction work prices affected the beginning of the whole event. The construction and exhibition reconstruction of the monastery was delayed due to the high groundwater level, as well as measures in connection with the covid-19 virus epidemic or the necessary static securing of the building's foundations. During the demolition work, the original sewerage system leading from the floor to the ground floor was discovered on the ground floor of the northern part of the building, in the place of toilets, and the original paving was discovered on the ground floor in the eastern part of the corridor and deposited in the museum depository.
In recent months, the construction company has built a new entrance to the future Visitor Center in the direction from the car park under the cemetery. Its appearance - the Krkonoše rock combined with a glazed block - refers to the geological peculiarities of the Krkonoše National Park and at the same time to the local connection of nature with traces of human work. Construction work will now continue, especially in the interior of the building. Simultaneously with the ongoing construction work, the KRNAP Administration is preparing a tender for the implementation of a new exhibition.
The original exposition of the Krkonoše Museum in Vrchlabí was ceremoniously opened on April 28, 1984. The exposition Stone and Life and Man and Mountains was at one time the top of museums in the Czech Republic. It was visited by more than 1 million visitors. The new Visitor Center of the Krkonoše National Park will introduce visitors to the story of the Krkonoše Mountains, with regard to the unique nature and in relation to the coexistence of nature and man. The ceremonial opening of the new Visitor Center of the Krkonoše National Park is planned for 2023, when the 140th anniversary of the museum's founding and the 60th anniversary of the Krkonoše National Park will be celebrated.
