The winter season runs at the zoo from November to April, and is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. But even after closing time, no one will drive you out of the zoo, you can leave the zoo at any time. During the winter season, all pavilions and exhibitions are open. The famous African safari is closed and will reopen during the summer season.
Until 2 January 2022, the grounds of the zoo in Dvůr Králové are decorated with dozens of Christmas spruces, which are not only a beautiful backdrop, but also an inspiration for hand-made decorations. The magical atmosphere is then highlighted by the early evening time, when light animal silhouettes and thousands of light bulbs underlining the architectural elements in the garden light up in the zoo.
Visitors can look forward to the popular Winter exhibition of giraffes and new species of animals in several exhibitions. You can admire the festively decorated and lighted garden, watch zebras, rhinos or tigers frolicking in the snow.
You will warm up in the tropical pavilions "Water Worlds" with sea and freshwater tanks and "Bird World" with free-moving birds and expositions of primates. You will also see hundreds of Christmas trees that have decorated children from schools and kindergartens. All indoor pavilions are accessible while maintaining anti-epidemic measures. You can look forward to cheetahs, hyenas, leopards and other beasts, rhinos, giraffes, elephants, rattlesnakes, dozens of bird species, large turtles, okapi, Kaffir buffalo, chimpanzees and other primates or Liberian hippos, including two favorite cubs.
