The Krkonoše Museums are open to visitors

From Tuesday to Sunday it is possible to visit the Krkonoše museums managed by KRNAP. Disinfection will of course be available to visitors, visitors must use drapes or respirators in the museum, and museum museums do not yet offer mass tours. But it is looking forward to everyone who comes to see the permanent or extended temporary exhibitions.

The information centers of the KRNAP Administration in Harrachov, Pec pod Sněžkou and Špindlerův Mlýn will open to the public, as expected, on Monday 10 May 2021.

Museums in Jilemnice and houses in Vrchlabí

The Krkonoše Museum in Jilemnice extended the exhibition Traces of Liberation in Jilemnice, which was installed in the museum a year ago to mark the 75th anniversary of the events of May 1945, when an uprising broke out in this town in the Krkonoše Mountains until June 6, 2021. The exhibition is truly unique and is therefore a whole month of time when it will be possible to see it. Until June 6, you can also come and see the exhibition Wandering behind the stone crosses of the Bohemian Paradise and the Giant Mountains, which presents several dozen of the most interesting monolithic crosses from the Middle Ages and the Modern Age of the region. In addition, you can look forward to permanent exhibitions on the history of skiing in the Giant Mountains and a picture gallery of the collections of František Kaván's work.

In addition to the permanent exhibitions of the history of Vrchlabí, the history of Krkonoše crafts and folk furniture, the Krkonoše Museum in Vrchlabí also offers an exhibition of paintings by Friedrich Iwan Sněžný Iwan - a painter in the Krkonoše Mountains, which the museum installed on days when all museums had to close. So you actually have the opportunity to see her for the first time. It is extended until September 5.

Fallen patriots and Shingles

The Monument of Fallen Patriots in Paseky nad Jizerou offers two exhibitions, extended until the end of March 2022. One will present the work of Pasek photographer Petr Kučera, a unique documentation of life in Paseky in the first half of the last century. The second exhibition, called At the Spread Table, will offer you a look at dining in the past and show you beautiful pieces of dishes from our collections and from households in Paseky and the surrounding area. In addition to exhibitions, the memorial also invites to permanent exhibitions on the history of life in Paseky, the history of the Krkonoše violin school, amateur theater and the life of the fallen patriot Věnceslav Metelka (and his literary form, portrayed by Karel Václav Rais).

The Šindelka forestry and hunting exhibition in Harrachov offers a look at the history of the use of the Krkonoše forests and life in them, including the diorama of the Krkonoše animals, which is popular especially among children.
