The Czech Slalom and Giant Slalom Championships will take place in Svatý Petr and on the Stoh ski slope.

The Championship of the Czech Republic (FIS Czech Cup) in downhill skiing takes place in Špindlerův Mlýn from March 24 to 26. Competitors should be seen on the Svatý Petr - Červená and Stoh ski slope. Everything depends on the current epidemiological situation. The races should be broadcast on television via ČT Sport and livestream on the Internet.

• Alpine skiing (downhill skiing) is one of the most attractive winter sports. The competitors try to cross the track marked with gates as quickly as possible. In alpine or downhill skiing, we encounter six different disciplines, each with its own rules:
• slalom - the slowest of all disciplines, requires a quick response due to many changes of direction. The race consists of 2 laps, each with a slightly different track. After adding up the times from both rounds, the overall ranking is known.
• giant slalom - another of the technical disciplines, it uses a lot of carving arch. They also race on 2 laps and it is interesting that in the 2nd round the first 30 qualified starting numbers are released on the track in the reverse order (sometimes 15). Again, the times from both rounds are added.
• super giant slalom (Super G) - the youngest discipline, he has been riding in the World Cup since 1983. It is something between downhill and giant slalom. It is a very demanding discipline - at high speeds, the directions of travel and also the slopes of the track change. There is only 1 bike.
• Congress - royal discipline, it is the longest and fastest discipline. Competitors rush at speeds of over 130 km / h and complete several meters of jumps. They ride in an aerodynamic squat. Before the race, there are training sessions for testing. There is only 1 lap in the race.
• alpine combination - there is also a combination of downhill or Super G + slalom. There is always 1 lap / Super G and one in the slalom, the times add up. These are 2 different disciplines in one, thus testing the versatility of the competitors. We also often come across the concept of supercombination.
• parallel slalom - the competitors ride in pairs on parallel built tracks, the goal is to beat their opponent

Alpine skiing has, of course, also been part of the Winter Olympics since 1936. The first World Championships took place five years earlier. The first World Cup in downhill skiing then took place in 1966.
