Dear fans of the Ice Ride - the memorial of Dr. Václav Vojtěch, we are pleased to announce that the 28th year will take place on 5 - 7 February 2022. We have ordered the weather, we will cut the corona.

The participants of the Ice Ride have almost 150 kilometers and more than 5,000 altitude meters in front of them. But be careful, there is one plot: the team consists not only of a musher and nine to ten dogs, but also a skier. He sometimes lets himself be towed by a team, sometimes slides next to him or helps the musher. The route around the Krkonoše Mountains is divided into several days, but the teams take all the equipment with them and sleep in the open air in the open air between the stages.

The Ice Ride was first ridden in 1986 as the Dr. Memorial. Václav Vojtěch. The race, which is one of the most prestigious and difficult of its kind, has hosted other places in the past. It took place, for example, in Strážné, Rudník or at Vrchlabí Airport. In 2022, Pec pod Sněžkou will welcome him from 5 to 7 February. The starting field will be full again, even with international participation.

And who was Dr. Václav Vojtěch, whose name the event bears?
Polar dog trainer and the first Czech who entered Antarctica on January 27, 1929. For this, he received, as the first and so far only local, the highest American award, the Gold Medal of the US Congress.
